Domestic Violence During a Pandemic

Updated: Dec 21, 2023

The Willow Domestic Violence Center of Rochester says that during the global pandemic and subsequent isolation of many in our area, domestic violence incidents have spiked in our area. Derick Abbey sat down with Lisa Nolan of Willow to discuss the importance of continued outreach during the Covid-19 outbreak, the full interview is above. She encourages everyone to check in with their loved ones and develop a plan if you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship -- quarantines and isolation can make an already bad situation, worse.

Lisa Nolan also asks for donations to the Willow Domestic Violence Center, as there has been an influx of reported incidents within the past month, you can look at their list of needed items at https://willowcenterny.org/help-out/wish-list/.

If you or someone you know is experiencing any kind of domestic or gender based violence, contact Willow's 24/7 Call line (585-222-7237), 24/7 text line (585-348-7233), or visit Willow's website at https://willowcenterny.org/.
