Brockport N.Y. -- As Heidi Macpherson retires after her eleventh academic year at the helm, SUNY Brockport was faced with the choice of its eighth University President. The choice was made today, and Dr. Dawn Soufleris will take the mantle.

Soufleris moves on from Montclair State University in New Jersey, wrapping up her current role as Vice President for Student Development and Campus Life. However, she is no stranger to SUNY, as she is alumni at both Binghamton University and Buffalo State.

Soufleris finds Brockport's direction promising as the university's enrollment rises. "What excites me most is the opportunity to build upon the momentum, while remaining grounded in the values that make Brockport extra special,".

With her experience working with campus life, Soufleris also stresses the importance of SUNY Brockport's community and finds a bright future in that regard. "I believe Brockport is uniquely positioned to continue providing students with a rigorous high-quality education, while also creating an environment where they feel a deep sense of belonging and connection and community."

Soufleris takes on her new role on July 20, in time for the Fall 2026 semester.
