ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Rochester Americans came up with a 3-2 overtime win against the North Division rival Belleville Senators on Friday night, with Rosén being the focal piece for the squad, with two goals, one of them being the deciding goal in the end.
"It was a great night for him," Rochester Americans head coach Michael Leone said. Rosén would also extend his point streak to 11 games.
The game started off rather quiet, as it took nearly two minutes for a shot to be registered, one from Ryan Johnson behind the left circle. From there, the matchup had the velocity and physicality that many would expect from a North Division rivalry game like this one. The physicality grew to a scuffle halfway into the first period -- the first of many to come.
The Amerks would set up shop with their signature high-risk, high velocity offense, which set them up with many great scoring opportunities. With exactly six minutes left in the first frame, one finally went in, Isak Rosén found the net from the right side with the assist from Konsta Helenius and Noah Laaouan, putting the Amerks on the board. Isak Rosén has drawn first blood in each of the two matchups during this stint in the AHL.

The physicality would escalate, with a mano a mano scuffle between the Amerks' Jagger Joshua and Jorian Donovan of the Sens immediately after the following face-off. That would not be the end of the chippiness between the rival teams. The first period would end with the Amerks not only carrying a 1-0 lead, but also a narrow shots on goal advantage of ten to nine.

The second period would start off quiet as well, with only three shots registered in the first six and a half minutes, with yet another group scuffle around four minutes in. This was until the second best goal scorer in the league buried a shot from right side for the Sens. Arthur Kaliyev would tack on his eighteenth of the season and even the game at one a piece.

To this point, no team had been on the power play until eight and a half minutes into the second period, when the Amerks grabbed a man advantage. The Sens would kill off the Amerks power play with nine and a half minutes left in the period, caused by a holding call on the Sens' Wyatt Bongiovanni. Not shortly after, the Amerks' Zac Jones would be called for a tripping, putting Belleville on the power play. The seventh best power play in the league would not convert, however.
The Amerks and Sens would go at it again with more offensive opportunities, but nothing broke, as the Sens salted away an offensive zone surge by the Amerks as time expired on the second period. The Amerks outshot the Sens nine to six in period two, putting the two period advantage at nineteen to fifteen. The score suggested otherwise however, as the North Division matchup would head to period three totally even in the score column.
The Sens didn't take long to grab the advantage into the the third, as Philippe Daoust would bury a near-impossible shot from just about the most difficult angle to the right of the goal to make the game 2-1. The Amerks would kill off another penalty, an interference call on Vsevolod Komarov. The Amerks would then find their equalizer, as Riley Fiddler-Schulz would nab his sixth goal on the season, with help from assist leader Zac Jones and Anton Wahlberg.

Zac Jones goes to twenty-six assists on the season, extending his lead to four assists on the number two in assists in the league, T.J. Tynan of the Colorado Eagles, who has twenty-two on the year. Zac Jones is also in the top ten now in points in the league this season with twenty-eight.
There would be plenty of game left though, and in the next twelve minutes, many opportunities to score for either team came and went, giving the Blue Cross Arena crowd with three-on-three extra hockey.

Overtime would be a thriller, with many close calls, including a shot from Fiddler-Schulz that tipped off the goalie's paddle and out of play. Rosén would become the jukebox hero tonight, with a wraparound shot from right of the net to win it for Rochester. He was assisted by Konsta Helenius and Zac Jones on the winner. Rosén's goal total now rises to 12 on the season, which makes him the team leader in that category.
The Amerks next game will be on Saturday, Dec. 27 as Rochester will host the Cleveland Monsters. Puck drop is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
