ROCHESTER, NY - The Rochester Americans' search for a new General Manager came to an end on Tuesday with the announcement of Amerks scout Stacy Roest taking on the position. In addition, Roest will also serve as director of player personnel for the Buffalo Sabres, who are the parent affiliate of the Americans. The promotion Roest comes a year after joining the Sabres as a pro-player scout for the 2025-26 season. Previously, he spent 11 years as director of player development for the Tampa Bay Lightning, as well as one year as assistant general manager during 2020-21, when the Lightning won the Stanley Cup Final. Roest also comes into the role with a background on the ice, as he played five seasons in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings and Minnesota Wild from 1998-2003. He also played in 309 American Hockey League games, between the Adirondack Red Wings and the Grand Rapids Griffins, scoring 99 goals and totaling 286 points in his AHL career. More recently, Roest has assistant general manager for Team Canada in 2025 for the Spengler Cup, working with Sabres associate general manager Jarmo Kekäläinen. The hire comes off a historic 70th season where the Amerks finished second in the North Division of the AHL with a record of 42-26-3-1 with 88 points, securing a playoff spot and sweeping the Syracuse Crunch in the first round. The Amerks open Roest's first season as General Manager with their home opener against the Toronto Marlies on October 10th at 7:05 pm.
