ROCHESTER, NY - For the fourth time in his career, Rochester Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason has won the 2026 Triple-A Executive of the Year award. Mason was awarded the honor on Tuesday, October 13, at the 2026 MiLB End of Year Awards Show at the MiLB Business Summit in Louisville.
“We are thrilled that Dan (Mason) is being recognized by the Office of Minor League Baseball with this highest achievement for a General Manager,” said Rochester Red Wings President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer Naomi Silver in a press release.
Mason earned the award after leading Rochester to its first 90-win season since 1953. The team went 90-58 under Mason this year and defeated the Memphis Redbirds two games to one to win their first International League championship since they won the Governors Cup back in 1997.
“For those of us who know him, work with him, or cheer for the Red Wings, this honor comes as no surprise, as Dan (Mason) is the consummate professional,” said Silver.
Mason is also the first executive to win the award four times, having won in 1996, 1997, and 2012. Mason is also the longest-tenured general manager in the minor leagues, with 37 years with Rochester. He stands as the Red Wings’ most decorated general manager in the team's history, overseeing the franchise to honors such as the Bob Freitas, the Larry MacPhail, and the John H. Johnson President's Awards.
“As the longest-tenured General Manager in Red Wings history, Dan has given so much of himself to this team and our community,” Silver said. “...Receiving this award for a fourth time is a testament to his sustained excellence and enduring place as an icon in the game we love.”
Rochester will open its 2027 season against the Syracuse Mets on March 26th at ESL Ballpark. It will be the Red Wings’ 30th season at their home stadium.
