Friday ended the week on a high note with temperatures in the low to mid 70s. This weekend will bring a couple rounds of changing weather before we become noticeably cold again at the start of the work week.

Friday night, a quick cold front drops through. This will bring some rain showers Friday afternoon and into the early evening. These spotty showers will be followed by some clouds overnight and chillier temperatures in the upper-30s and low 40s. Winds will shift out of the northwest but will settle to around 5 mph overnight.

We start Saturday with some rain showers and winds picking up to around 15 mph out of the southeast as our next warm front moves through western New York. For the most part, showers will stay at bay for the afternoon hours which will allow some sun to come out and temperatures to rise into the upper-60s. However, a passing thunderstorm cannot be ruled out during the warmest part of the day. High temperatures on Saturday will reach near 70 degrees with winds out of the south between 15 and 20 mph. Expect occasional gusts over 20 mph.

Clouds increase through Saturday night as cooler air starts to trickle into the region. After midnight, expect some heavier rain and rumbles of thunder to roll through western New York. We will quickly drop from the 50s to the lower 40s Saturday overnight after these showers move off to the east. Winds stay mainly out of the southwest at 15-20 mph.

Widespread and heavier rain showers will move off to the east Sunday morning. The rest of the day will be followed by some scattered cold rain showers and overcast skies. Winds will remain mostly out of the west between 15 and 25 mph. This cooler end to the weekend will lead into a cold start to the work week with temperatures struggling to get out of the 30s on Monday and Tuesday.
