ROCHESTER, N.Y. --- The Rochester Americans hosted The Hershey Bears last night at Blue Cross Arena, most of the night though it was more like the Roman Colliseum with major fights breaking out in every period of the game. The stars of the game from the Amerks were Captain Michael Mersch, Peyton Krebs, and Jack Quinn.

In the first period The Amerks went red hot from the get go with two goals from Michael Mersch, one of the power play, and the other just after. After the pair of goals Hershey went skrappy. 15:07 into the game a fight broke out penalizing five total players, three Amerks and two Bears. Then another power play goal was scored in the final minutes of the period by Ryan MacInnis and assisted by Jack Quinn.

It would come to no surprise from the flow of this game that Hershey carried a penalty into the second period of play, they were also down 3-0. During the second period Hershey peppered Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen with 15 shots but only wound up with one in the back of the net, that followed a goal from Sean Malone.

The third period started in the same fashion with a brutal beating of Ryan Scarfo by Hershey winger Kale Kessy. He had enough penalty minutes from that to be out for the remainder of the game. On that power play The Amerks scored again, this time it was Mason Jobst. Hershey brought it back to 5-3 but it was not enough as Rochester netted another two goals, one from Jack Quinn and one from Mark Jankowski which ended in him being tackled by Hershey Goalie Pheonix Copley. The final score of the game was 7-3, The Bears totaled 79 minutes in penalties, The Americans totaled 46.

The Americans now go on the road to face off with their upstate rivals, The Syracuse Crunch. The Crunch currently sit ahead of only Belleville in the North Division but they often put up a good fight when The Amerks come to town.
