Portside Royals Hockey drops sixth straight with 3-1 loss to Batavia Notre Dame United.

BROCKPORT, N.Y. --- The Portside Royals varsity hockey team hosted Batavia Notre Dame United on Tuesday night looking to snap an 0-5-2 record over their previous seven games and try and rebound from a 9-4 home loss to Churchville Chili last Thursday. Batavia Notre Dame United came in looking for their 13th victory of the season.


Both teams went back and forth, missing many scoring chances throughout most of the first period. Then with 3:05 left to play in the first period, senior forward Ronin Hofmaster netted his 13th goal of the season to give Batavia Notre Dame United a 1-0 lead. The first period would end with the score at 1-0.


Batavia Notre Dame United extended the lead to 2-0 after a goal by sophomore forward Jameson Motyka at the 4:02 mark in the second period. The Royals would cut the lead in half just 2:42 later when senior forward Liam McGrath scored his fourth goal of the season. This would be the only goal the Royals would score in the game. After two periods the score was 2-1.


At the 8:06 mark in the third period sophomore forward Ivan Milovidov sealed the game for Batavia Notre Dame United with a goal to make it a 3-1 game. That would be the final score of the game. Batavia Notre Dame United Sophomore goaltender Rhys Tanner saved 23-of-24 shots on goal.


The Portside Royals drop to 7-8-2 on the season and will host the Penfield Patriots on Thursday night at 5pm at SUNY Brockport. Batavia Notre Dame United will host Brighton/HFL on Saturday afternoon at 3pm at the McCarthy Memorial Ice Arena.
