BROCKPORT, NY--- The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles Hockey Team (1-2) look to bounce back after falling to Cortland on Friday by taking on the SUNY Oswego Lakers (2-1). SUNY Brockport played them tough but Oswego would come out on top with a game winning goal from Austin Borggaard.
"It's a learning opportunity," Brockport Head Coach Brian Dickinson said. "We frustrated them, it's a top ten team in the country and we were tooth and nail with them all night."
Between the pipes for Brockport would be senior David Filak. Coming in at 1-1 with a 3.57 goals against average (GAA) after a junior campaign where he was third in saves (510) and fourth in save percentage (.919%) in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC)
On the opposite end of the ice, Oswego turned to their 2025 All SUNYAC Rookie Goaltender Michael Manzi. Manzi appeared in 19 games posting a 11-4 record with a 2.14 GAA and .918SV%.
For Oswego forwards Jake Gutwirth, Cam Symons, and Austin Borggaard were the goalscorers with assists coming from Travis Baker (D), Nico Paone (D) and Rich Rucireto (F). As for Brockport Kyle Kussman (D) and Joshua Przystal (F) were the scorers with apple's from Micahel Kull (F), Kaleb Miller (F) and Nicholas Maria (D). Brockport goaltender Filak made 48 saves on 51 shots on goal where as for Manzi made 30 saves on 32 shots on goal.

Brockport got things going just three minutes into the contest. Kussman received a one-timer from Maria just in front of the blue line and beat Manzi through traffic to make it 1-0.
It would take all of 12 seconds for Oswego to respond. Symons found himself in the low slot and found himself a rebound that he put past Filak to tie it up at 1-1.
Brockport would take the lead late with seven minutes remaining in the first period. Maria fired a pass that got tipped in the air, which Przystal wacked out of midair into the back of the net to make it 2-1.
Oswego would respond seven minutes into the second period. Baker fired a pass towards the crease of Filak, where Gutwirth jammed in to make it a 2-2 game.
No goals were scored in the third period, but chaos occurred late. Symons took a penalty on Brockport forward Aidan Taylor but Taylor got called for unsportsmanlike conduct for yelling at Symons after the play. Both guys would go to the box to make it four-on-four, leaving a great chance for Brockport to go on the power play.
Brockport had a good chance in overtime until allowing an Oswego breakaway going the other way. Borggaard, who scored the game-winner last night against Geneseo, gave himself another firing a high glove-side wrist shot to break the hearts of Brockport and win 3-2.
"Talking to Coach Whitelaw (Oswego coach) he's like 'You play like that, and you're going to win a lot of hockey games, and I wouldn't be surprised if you won one next weekend'," Dickinson said. "We just challenged our guys, and we got to bring this effort every day in practice because we're kind of a Jekyll and Hyde."
SUNY Brockport falls to 1-3 on the season and takes on the Utica Pioneers for a two-game split on Friday and Saturday. As for Oswego (3-1), they look ahead to SUNY Plattsburgh next Friday and Skidmore on Saturday.
