Meet Izzy our Pet Pick Feature of the Week from Standing Together an Animal Rescue Service in North Tonawanda, NY! He is a very outgoing independent kitty who just needs someone who understands that from the moment he was born, he had a defensive guard around him, and it will take some time for Izzy to let his guard down. But once he gets used to you, he is the most playful and loving kitty you'll ever meet. Izzy LOVES cat trees, climbing and being in high places, and playing with laser pointers. June 2021 will mark one year of Izzy being in the shelter program, where he has lived 90% of his life. Standing Together is hoping there is someone out there that will understand this beautiful kitties story and will give him the patience to welcome him into their home.
Izzy's Story: "Izzy came to STARS back in June of 2020! Izzy came to us when we were called out to Lockport to help with the local feral problem. The person who called us said they noticed there was a group of kittens living under their house and wanted them trapped as there are wild coyotes in the area and was worried for the safety of the kittens. He knew the mother cats would be okay as they lived on the property for awhile and knew how to defend themselves and hide away from the coyotes at night. But he was concerned for the kittens who don't have the quick energy to escape or defend themselves. When we got out there, we noticed there was 2 mama kitties and 4 kittens. We TNVR both mamas and returned them to their familiar area where they now will sit on the porch of the person who originally called us. He feeds them and takes care of them as if they were his own pets but unfortunately, they were not friendly enough to let anyone approach them. So he takes care of them from a distance. However, the 4 kittens were young enough to be socialized and adopted out. While 3 of the 4 kittens were adopted, Izzy was always over looked for being such a shy kitty. Even though he came into STARS at the young age of 6 weeks old, he was already terrified of humans and needed one on one time to adjust and feel conformable around a new body. This made Izzy getting adopted very difficult." --Standing Together an Animal Rescue Service
