BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- After the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles (10-14) took down the Geneseo Ice Knights (16-7) for the first time in ten years on Friday, they looked to complete the sweep in the final game of the regular season on Saturday. The Ice Knights bounced back well en route to a 5-2 win.

"I'll go to war with this group," Brockport head coach Brian Dickinson said. "They play like that and we are going to win a lot of games."
In net for the Geneseo Ice Knights is the Canadian freshman Ian Vandenberg. Coming over from the CCHL, he's logged five games this season holding a 2.87 GAA and a .908 SV%. For the Golden Eagles they turn to their usual Saturday starter in Dax Easter. After getting pulled against Nazareth last weekend, Easter looked to bounce back against an angry Geneseo.
For the Golden Eagles Manny Sanchez and Nick Reif netted both goals in the loss, Reif also added an assist as well as Jacob Gates, Brody Seitz, and Matthew Lee adding apples as well. For the Ice Knights Dakota Zarudny and Alex Dameski had two goal nights with Filip Wiberg adding one as well. The assists came from Robert Gatewood and Carter Diceman who each had two with Sterling Wolters and Cameron Ricotta adding an assist as well. Vandenberg stopped 24 of 26 shots with Easter stopping 41 out of 46 shots.
Geneseo got things going just over two minutes in on the power play. Zarudny found the puck on his stick with an open net off of a rebound, allowing for an easy bury to give Geneseo an early lead.
Seven minutes later Brockport would respond on a power play of their own. Alike Geneseo's first goal, Reif sent in a shot that created a rebound for Sanchez who made no mistake to tie the game up at one.

Geneseo took the reigns again in the second period. Dameski found himself on a two-on-one with Gatewood who fed a saucer pass over to Dameski, bardown for Geneseo gave them the 2-1 lead.
Brockport went on another power play just a few minutes after going down 2-1. Reif unloaded and absolute howitzer that went bar-down blocker side to tie things up at two.
Dameski was a man on a mission after the Reif goal. From an impossible angle on the near side boards, Dameski threaded the smallest needle between Easter's glove and the post to give Geneseo the lead once again 3-2.
Geneseo would cruise the rest of the way. Zarudny added to his goal tally halfway through the third period. The ultimate nail in the coffin for Brockport was a shorthanded goal from Wiberg to end the scoring at 5-2.
Brockport ends their regular season with a record of 10-15, good enough for a playoff birth. Brockport will travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Chatham Cougars who they split with earlier this season. As for Geneseo, they finish as the second seed (17-7) and will welcome the winner of Albertus Magnus versus Nazerath.
"We're zero and zero and the same as Chatham," Dickinson said. "We know what it takes to beat those guys so we are looking forward to that matchup."
