BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles and the Albertus Magnus Falcons started game one of their two-game series, commencing only the second time the two teams have faced each other. Brockport originally held a 1-0 record over them, but the Falcons came to play on Friday night, winning 4-1.

"No easy games in this league," said SUNY Brockport hockey head coach Brian Dickinson. "I thought we were the better team in large stretches of the game, just couldn't get that second one to go."
In net for the Falcons was recent UCHC Men's Rookie of the Week winner Caleb Chabot. The Quebec native had two games under his belt stopping 39-of-40 shots he saw in Manhattanville going 1-1 in the series. For the Golden Eagles was David Filak. The usual Friday starter is riding a hot season posting a .917 save percentage and four wins.
For the Golden Eagles, Kaleb Miller came away with the lone goal which was assisted by Brody Seitz and Jacob Gates. Albertus Magnus' goals came from Bailey Kirwin, Sam Lozinski, Maxsim Tsegelnik and Caden Pattison. Zane Kindrachuk ended his night with three assists as well as Connor Bertamini, Sam Witt and William Lavinge picking up assists. Filak stopped 21 of the 25 shots he saw while Chabot stopped 25 of 26 shots.

Brockport got things going just over 30 seconds into the contest. Seitz found himself behind the net of Chabot and found a surging Miller on the doorstep who fired it top left making it 1-0 Golden Eagles.
"It's always important to get started early," Miller said. "When you jump on them right away, it creates a pressure towards them and gives us the upper hand."
Eight minutes later, the Falcons responded. Kindrachuck made a beautiful self board pass behind the net of Filak and found Lozinski awaiting on the doorstep with a one-timer. Lozinski buried it tying it up at one a piece.
Six minutes later Albertus went on the power play after a slashing penalty was charged to Aidan Taylor. Kindrachuk danced with the puck to the right of Filak and delivered a saucer pass in front to Pattison who had no trouble burying his fourth goal of the season to make it 2-1.
With only a few minutes left in the first period Brockport found themselves in a 5-on-3 situation with Nicholas Maria and Joshua Przystal. Tsegelnik loaded up a one-timer from Kindrachuk to the left side of Filak burying the slap-shot to increase the lead to 3-1.
No goals would be scored until later in the second period once again coming from Albertus. Kirwin caused a turnover deep in the Brockport zone causing a 3-on-1 right in front of Filak. Kirwin stuck with the puck ending the game on his stick increasing the lead to 4-1.
No goals would be scored for the remainder of the game. Ending at 4-1 for the Falcons.
"Good news is we get another crack at them early," Dickinson said. "They're going to come ready to try and get the sweep and get six big points, we got to battle back and get those three points back."
The Golden Eagles fall to 9-11 losing their fourth spot in the UCHC to Albertus. The Falcons go up to 12-8, stealing the fourth spot in the UCHC from the Golden Eagles. Brockport has the chance for revenge tomorrow as both will rematch at 4 p.m.
