BROCKPORT, N.Y. --- The Brockport Golden Eagles men's basketball team hosted the first place Oswego State Lakers at the Vlog on Friday night. The Golden Eagles had hoped to defeat the Lakers for their last chance to grab the first seed. Unfortunately for Brockport, they fell to Oswego with the final score of 79-73.

With the Lakers defeating the Golden Eagles, they officially clinch the first seed in the SUNYAC conference and will host the tournament next weekend.

The Golden Eagles took the lead first after a sophomore starting guard Colby Jordan layup to start the game. Once senior starting forward Jamal Achille drained a three-pointer to take a 5-4 lead, Oswego never gave up the lead again the rest of the game.

Brockport was down by 15 at one point during the first half and eventually cut the lead down to four, but could not take the next step in taking that lead.

For Brockport, sophomore guard Tony Arnold led the team in scoring with 27 while sophomore guard Mekhi Beckett finished with 18. For Oswego, senior guard Devin Green led the team in scoring with 18 while junior forward Cartier Bowman finished with 17. It was an all-around effort for Oswego.

"My buckets came from a mixture of pure grit and plays opened by my teammates. My teammates understand that I get hot, keep the ball in my hand, and just trust me," said Tony Arnold.

Despite losing to Oswego, Brockport has officially clinched the number two seed and will receive a first round bye in the tournament. The Golden Eagles face the Buffalo State Bengals on Senior Day tomorrow for the final regular season game. Tip-off for the game is at 4:45 p.m.
