Brockport Golden Eagles Again Swept on SUNYAC Hockey weekend, losing streak extends to five games.

The SUNY Brockport Men's Ice Hockey team had a pair of SUNYAC matches this weekend. On Friday night, the Golden Eagles traveled to SUNY Fredonia to take on the Blue Devils and on Saturday night they hosted the Buffalo State Bengals.


On Friday night, Fredonia scored one goal and shut out Brockport to win their second game of the season. Both team's defense played extremely well throughout the entire game. The Golden Eagles and Blue Devils weren't able to get anything going offensively and after two periods, the game was tied 0-0.


Fredonia sophomore forward Ryan Bailey finally broke the 0-0 deadlock with an unassisted goal at the 11:01 mark in the third period, to put the Blue Devils up 1-0. With 20 seconds left in the game The Golden Eagles had a 6-4 advantage after a Fredonia penalty but were still unable to score, which sealed the victory for the Blue Devils.


Sophomore goaltender Logan Dyck saved all 39 shots by the Golden Eagles. Brockport senior goaltender Aidan Curry saved 38-of-39 shots on goal.

On Saturday night The Golden Eagles hosted the Buffalo State Bengals. The Golden Eagles got off to a good start, but it wasn't enough to defeat the Bengals.


With just two minutes to play in the first period Chase Maxwell scored a power play goal to put the Golden Eagles up 1-0 early.

This lead for the Golden Eagles would not last long though as 4:00 minutes into the second period sophomore forward Joe Glamos tied the game netting a power play goal. With two minutes left in the second period, junior forward Nikita Kozyrev scored on a power play to give the Buffalo State Bengals the 2-1 lead.


Freshman defensemen Drayton Todoroff added to the Bengals lead netting a goal just 1:20 into the third period. Three minutes later sophomore forward Jared Figueroa scored a goal to make it a 4-1 Bengals lead. The Golden Eagles would not go away quietly.


Brockport sophomore forward Jake Mendeszoon scored his second goal of the season 9:57 into the third period to cut the deficit in half. With three minutes left to play in the game junior forward Connor Galloway netted a goal to make the score 4-3. The Golden Eagles were unable to complete the comeback and would lose the game 4-3.

The Golden Eagles now sit at 3-7 on the season and 2-5 in the conference. The Golden Eagles have lost five straight games. The Golden Eagles will try to break their losing streak when the host the SUNY Geneseo Golden Knights on Friday, Dec. 9th at 7pm for the annual Teddy Bear toss.
