Brockport Baseball splits doubleheader with Bard College on Senior day.

BROCKPORT, N.Y. --- On Saturday afternoon, the Golden Eagles celebrated the 13 seniors who are graduating from Brockport and leaving the baseball program. They won the first game by a large margin, 19-3, but were defeated in the second game 7-5.


Game one


In the bottom of the first inning, outfielder Zach Eldred got the scoring started for the Golden Eagles when he brought home James Houlahan on a sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, first basemen Patrick Bigham singled and drove in shortstop Justin Pangburn to make it 2-0.

Two batters later, third basemen Johnny Genau drove in outfielder Nicholas Pastore on a sacrifice fly to make it a 3-0 Brockport lead.


In the bottom of the second inning, Eldred hit an RBI Triple to center field which brought home Pastore to extend the Brockport lead to 4-0.


In the top of the third inning, Raptors outfielder Michael Kurlan drove in infielder DJ Pearson on a sacrifice fly to make it a 4-1 game.


In the top of the fourth inning, Jack Williamson hit an infield single which brought home infielder/pitcher Aidan Risse to cut the Brockport lead in half, 4-2.


In the bottom of the fourth inning, Patrick Bigham singled up the middle and drove in Zach Eldred to give Brockport a 5-2 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, outfielder Ryan Mansell scored on a fielding error by Bard shortstop DJ Pearson to make it a 6-2 game.


In the top of the sixth inning, outfielder Anthony Brigante singled to left field and drove in Jared Toby to make it a 6-3 game. This was the last run the Raptors would score in the game.


In the bottom of the sixth inning, Patrick Bigham doubled and drove in Pastore to give Brockport a 7-3 lead.


In the bottom of the seventh inning, Eldred hit a two-run double to right field that brought in Houlahan and Pastore to make it a 9-3 game. Two batters later, catcher Ryan Voight singled and drove in Eldred to give Brockport a 10-3 lead.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Brockport would go on to score nine runs, highlighted by a solo homerun by catcher Mason Davis. The final score was 19-3.

Game Two


Game two was a seven-inning game. In the top of the first, catcher Jared Toby hit a two-run double to center field that brought home Kurlan and Brigante to give the Raptors an early 2-0 lead.


In the bottom of the fourth inning, catcher David Belsito singled to right field and drove in Zach Eldred to make it a 2-1 game.

In the top of the fifth inning, infielder Jake Stacey hit a two-run homerun to right field to give the Raptors a 4-1 lead.


In the top of the sixth inning, DJ Pearson doubled to left field that brought home Mike Lynch. The next batter, outfielder Jimmy Famularo singled to right field and drove in Lynch. This made it a 6-1 game.


In the top of the seventh inning, Jake Stacey hit his second homerun of the game to give Bard a 7-1 lead.


In the bottom of the seventh inning, outfielder Nicholas Pastore doubled to left field and drove in infielder Josh indek to make it a 7-2 game. Later in the inning, Zach Eldred hit a three-run homerun to right field to make it a 7-5 game. Brockport was unable to complete the comeback and lost 7-5.

With the win and loss, Brockport is now 23-13 overall on the season. The Golden Eagles will be back in action when they travel to Ithaca to take on the Bombers on Tuesday afternoon at 4pm.
