Brockport Baseball drops first game of NCAA Regional Tournament to Rowan University.

BROCKPORT, N.Y.-- The Golden Eagles fell behind early and were unable to stop the hot bats of the Rowan University Profs and were defeated 12-3. Profs starting pitcher Zach Grace went 8 2/3 innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs, while striking out seven and walking one.


In the bottom of the first inning, Profs third basemen Anthony Schooley singled and drove in outfielder Phil Sedalis to give them an early 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, outfielder Jason Morgan hit a two-run double to left field, which brought in Ryan Murphy and Schooley, to make it 3-0.


The next batter, first basemen Patrick Defeciani doubled to left field and brought home Morgan to make it a 4-0 game.


In the top of the second inning, Brockport shortstop Justin Pangburn singled to left field and drove in first basemen Patrick Bigham to make it a 4-1 game.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Profs got their fifth run of the game after Jason Morgan drove in designated hitter Dylan Maria on a groundout to shortstop.


In the top of the sixth inning, Patrick Bigham singled to right field and drove in center fielder Nicholas Pastore to make it a 5-2 game.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Patrick Defeciani singled up the middle and drove in Morgan to extend the lead to 6-2.


In the bottom of the seventh inning, Dylan Maria hit a two-run homerun to left field to make it an 8-2 game. Later in the inning, catcher Brian Gallante singled up the middle and drove in Morgan for the Profs ninth run of the game.


The next batter, shortstop Chris Curio brought home Patrick Defeciani on a groundout to make it a 10-2 game.


In the bottom of the eighth inning, outfielder Ryan Murphy tripled to right field and drove in Schooley making it 11-2. Murphy later scored on a passed ball giving the profs a 12-2 lead.


In the top of the ninth inning, Justin Pangburn doubled to left field and drove in designated hitter Ryan Voight to make it 12-3. This would be the final score of the game.

The Golden Eagles will look to bounce back when they take on Arcadia University tomorrow morning at 8:30 on day two of the NCAA Regional Tournament.
