Brockport Baseball defeats top-seeded Cortland to remain undefeated in the SUNYAC tournament.

BROCKPORT, N.Y.- After a slow start to the game, the Golden Eagles got the bats going late and rallied to defeat the Cortland Red Dragons 6-1. Starting pitcher Adam Douglass and reliever Matthew Colucci combined for nine strikeouts and one earned run and allowing ten hits.


In the bottom of the third inning, Cortland left fielder Matt Bruno singled and drove in center fielder Chris Bonacci to give the Red Dragons a 1-0 lead. This would be the only run of the game for Cortland.


In the top of the sixth inning, Brockport left fielder Ryan Mansell singled to right field and drove in catcher David Belsito to tie the game at one apiece.

In the top of the eighth inning, first basemen Patrick Bigham tripled to right field and brought home right fielder Zach Eldred to give Brockport the 2-1 lead. Later in the inning, Ryan Mansell hit an RBI single to right field which drove in infielder Josh Indek to extend the lead to 3-1.


In the top of the ninth inning, center fielder Nick Pastore singled to left field and drove in second basemen James Houlahan to make it a 4-1 game. Later in the inning, infielder Josh Indek singled and drove in Nick Pastore to make it 5-1. Zach Eldred would come around to score from second on a throwing error by center fielder Chris Bonacci to make it a 6-1 game. This would be the final score of the game.

The Golden Eagles will play the winner of the noon Oswego and Cortland game for the SUNYAC Title on Saturday afternoon at 3:30.
