Rochester - NY -- The Amerks struck with 1:47 left in regulation to push their win streak to three straight games. They did not have the lead for a single second before their game winning goal but we're able to hold and get win the win over the Belleville Senators.
In the first period the Rochester Americans greatly outshot the Senators, the overall shot difference was 12 to 6. But Belleville would pull away with first goal of the night coming from Jake Lucchini at 18:30 in the first. Despite largely dictating the pace of the game the Rochester Americans we're not rewarded for their effort as they ended the period down 1-0.
Belleville would largely have control in the second period, outshooting Rochester 15 to 7 overall. But it was 15:27 into the period when rookie of the month for October Jack Quinn would strike with his sixth goal of the season. He would also add an assist later in the game to mark his fifth straight multi-point game. But less than a minute later 16:22 into the period Roby Jarventie scored his first of the season to give the Senators back the lead. They would hold this lead into the second period.
The Americans came out screaming in the third period with unassisted goal from Jankowski at 1:07. But yet again the Senators steal back the lead this time thirteen seconds later with a goal from Kastelic. But the Americans stayed strong, specifically on the power play where they struck for their second power play goal to tie the game from Sean Malone at the 3:55 mark.
From then on it was a tight physical affair with neither team wanting to give an inch. With the shots only being 9 to 5 in favor of the Senators it's clear the defense we're locking things down. But Michael Mersch was able to finally give the Amerks the lead at 18:13 into the period. His sixth goal of the season led to the win for Rochester and advanced them to a 5-2-0 record on the season.
The Amerks will look towards Friday, Nov. 5 for their next game against rival Toronto Marlies at 7:05 pm at the Blue Cross Arena. They are looking for their fourth win in a row and to continue what has been a successful start of the season.
