"Trampoline” by Shaed

Updated: Dec 7, 2023

A different sound, this group. Soothing vocals brought me into this track but I’m not sure if it was enough to hold me. The beat opens with fingers snapping and continues to some light drums. The lyrics are poetic enough to keep me hanging on, “Wait if I’m on fire. How am I so deep in love? When I dream of dying. I never feel so loved.” Lyrically, it’s deep enough to keep me connected for a full listen but the instrumental is just too simple to keep me hooked. Don’t get me wrong, lead singer Chelsea Lee has a great voice and can definitely carry the track, I feel like they could be doing a lot more with the guitar and keyboard. It’s cool to hear some authentic musicians playing organic soulful music but for me it’s too calm, too simple, too safe. I guess this would be great music for a cocktail lounge, or in a corner in some casino. Talent, no doubt is in abundance with this trio from Washington D.C. My only issue is that the group is too calming, the music is too plain, and it’s on the slower side. This track leaves me with little to chew on, I am however somewhat interested in this group’s other tracks and I think live they would be real special. However, Shaed doesn’t do it for me and unfortunately I can only give this jazzy, mellow music performance a rating of: 2/5 stars.
