“Goodbye” opens with Nicki Minaj and harp fit. The bachata beat is reminiscent of many standard Puerto Rican anthems and amps up on the nostalgia. Some elements of this song that were unique include the authentic tambourine and marching snare line. The syncopated soprano “I need you I need you tonight” is also fitting and tasteful. This is not a wannabe appropriation of Jamaica and the Dominican Republic but instead transports you to a fusion of island culture.
I give this song five stars.
