Gotta Let Go- Hollywood Underground - Hollywood Underground’s “Gotta Let Go” shows the listener right away how it can take an anthem style song, and make it extremely unique. The intro in this song features an acoustic guitar with a unique violin esque sound that portrays the rhythm of the song’s chorus. Speaking of the chorus, I loved how they took the simple repetition of “Gotta Let Go” and made it catchier than hell. When the song transitions into rap, I feel like it loses some of its unique characteristics with the use of lazy lyrics. That being said I think it plays in well with the theme of letting go. 4 out of 5 stars.

Hi Hello- Johnny Marr- How fun is Johnny Marr’s “Hi Hello”?! This tune comes right out of the gate and smacks you with an awesome instrumental that sounds like a retro rock throwback. Throughout the entire song you can hear glimpses of 70’s ballet rock with the heavy synthesizers, and rock guitar. Every part of this song works with what comes next, the verse leads great into the bridge, which transitions perfectly into the chorus. I don’t know how successful this song will be today, but I do know if it was released a few decades ago it would be a hit. I think this song is really strong for what it’s trying to do, and for that I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Remind Me To Forget- Kygo- Overproduced is the only way to describe Kygo’s latest tune “Remind Me To Forget”. The song opens with a soft piano and a slow intro that showcases Miguel’s impressive voice which is definitely the strength of this song. I really enjoy the song as it leads up to the chorus. Miguel’s vocal range is showcased all the way up to the chorus, but overproduction in the chorus took me right out of this song. When the listener has to fight to hear the strength of the song, that ruins it for me. I think overall this song had a lot of potential to be more than what it became. 3 out of 5 stars.
