Fall Out Boy: Mania

Updated: Dec 7, 2023

★★★★

As this album was coming out and singles were being released, I honestly hated the new sound Fall Out Boy was bringing. Once the whole album came out, I instantly fell in love with it. This album has a nice mix of different styles such as electronic, something a little bit harder, and some of the classic Fall Out Boy sound we know.

One of the first songs that stands out to me is “Champion”. I think this song is most like what we know from them but also a little bit of something new which really drew me in. “Hold Me Tight or Don’t” was another song that I think really shows the diversity of this album. It is a very upbeat song that I was not expecting. My favorite song was “Heaven’s Gate”. It’s one of the slower and softer songs off the album but I really enjoyed that. The feeling this song specifically gives off as well also made me really like it. Overall, I give this album 4/5 stars.

This whole album was something I never expected from Fall Out Boy and while the change is nice I would’ve loved to hear more of their classic sound. I think this album really showcased that they are capable of much more than we thought and for that reason is why I like this album so much.
