DNCE has been rising to the top of the dance charts lately, and for good reason. Their new, self-titled, release that came out Nov 18 is catchy as hell. Joe Jonas’s vocals are on fleek, smooth as butter. This album will have you dancing all night long. If you were wondering, yes the new album does contain their hit track “Cake by the Ocean!”
The new album also boasts the raunchy “Body Moves.” What I really like about this track is the background vocals.
Me and you (oh, just a little bit)
Body moves (yeah, just a little bit)
I don't need it, but you know how bad I want it
And your touch has got me haunted, but I like it
I perform as a drag king and I have performed two different DNCE songs “Cake by the Ocean” and “Toothbrush.” These songs are perfect for my repertoire because they are so fun and they get stuck in your head so easily. Even though “Cake” doesn’t make much sense, it’s a great song anyways.
What I really love is that all of the songs on the album are so cohesive, instead of being separate tracks it’s a fluid narrative. Even “Good Day”, which kinda strays away from the dance genre and is sort of acoustic, has its place on the album.
