Wallows ‘Model’ Tour is their largest global tour to date. From the U.S. to Europe to Australia, Wallows are making a name for themselves world wide. On August 30, they stopped at Budweiser Stage in Toronto.
Wallows is an alternative rock band composed of Braeden Lemasters, Cole Preston, and Dylan Minnette of “13 Reasons Why” fame. They started independently releasing music in 2017 with their hit song “Pleaser.” Eventually they signed to Atlantic Records in 2018 and released their debut EP “Spring.” From 2019 to 2024, they released three full length albums and an EP: “Nothing Happens” in 2019, the EP “Remote” in 2020, “Tell Me That It’s Over” in 2022, and “Model” in 2024.
The concert began with an extended version of the song “Do Not Wait” while Minnette appeared as a shadow behind a curtain covering the stage. When the curtain dropped, Wallows sang their hit single off their newest album, “Your Apartment.” After welcoming the crowd to the show, the band played songs not only from their newest album, but from all of their past ones. This included hit songs “Scrawny,” “These Days,” “Uncomfortable” and “1980s Horror Film.”
Wallows then left the stage, entering a miniature set up in the audience. Lemasters took a detour and ran from the stage to the merchandise table while singing “She’s an Actress,” shocking fans and workers. From there they sang a slowed down rendition of “OK” and three more of their other songs.
The hour and a half long performance came to a close with Wallows’ most popular songs. “Remember When” and “Pictures of Girls” were the last sung before the encore. After leaving the stage, Wallows returned to play “Are You Bored Yet” and “Only Ecstasy”.
I’ve been listening to Wallows since 2020, and finally getting to see them live was great. They put on a great show and the atmosphere was amazing. Not only did I get to hear my new favorite songs of theirs, but also the songs I’ve been listening to for years. The lighting, the set, the crowd and the band made for a fantastic concert.
