ROCHESTER, NY-- In a sporadic rainy night the Spencerport Rangers traveled to the Gates Chili Spartans in a divisional matchup. Senior Juan Green Jordan scored the game winning goal to make the final score 2-1 in a dramatic double overtime to put the Rangers back in the win column after dropping two games in a row.

Spencerport had many opportunities throughout the game and capitalized enough to pull out the win.

“So I think overall, we’re a very technical team," said Green Jordan. "We have a bunch of great players coming together, and we lost a few key players last year but I think we’re just working to finish the goals. Finishing goals is our biggest priority. It was definitely really important, you know, coming off those two losses, you know, some people were down, but just definitely will bring us up, and we have practice for our next couple days, so we’re looking to get back at it.”

Gates Chili's offense went quiet after their only goal was scored less than 10 minutes into the game. Spencerport dominated time of possession but Gates Chili's defense was effective holding them to only two goals with the ball on their half for the majority of the game.

Gates Chili senior goalkeeper Dylan General made 14 saves.

Momentum swung toward Spencerport when sophomore Daniel Weiss scored in the second half with 18:00 left in regulation.

“Well, we got a week off now," Spencerport head coach Jody Wyant said. "Just to heal some bodies and stuff like that and then we’re just gonna train hard, we got to work harder in practice, like this week come out. ”

Gates Chili looks to bounce back against a non-divisional opponent on the road in Rush-Henrietta this Wednesday at 4:45 p.m. Spencerport will move on to Irondequoit next Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 6:30 p.m.
