“Blueberry Eyes” by MAX featuring Suga of BTS, Lil Mosey, and Olivia O’Brien recently shot up the charts and with it’s excellent features, it is easy to see why.
“Blueberry Eyes” starts its opening verse with Lil Mosey’s feature talking about a recent love interest when he raps, “I can’t explain the feeling I get when I call you mine” and “real love is hard to find and I can’t stop looking in those blue eyes” His quick feature with sweet lyrics perfectly fit the theme of this light and upbeat song. The melody sounds similar to something out of a video game. It has a synthesized sound with quick bursts of bass. The song then opens its sound into the chorus with MAX singing, “Kiss you each morning with strawberry skies / 'Cause I get so lost in your blueberry eyes / I'm running through my dreams to see you in the light / 'Cause I get so lost in your blueberry eyes”. Suga then adds his quick verse in Korean. This then leads back to the chorus which is dueted with Olivia O’Brien and MAX’s incredibly light and harmonious vocals.
The song follows a pattern of a faded melody that helps to highlight the verses. It then builds into the chorus to be clear and defiant against the singers’ vocals. After, it fades back, swells, and then ultimately slows down and fades out with one last chorus of MAX and Olivia echoing each other until the end of the song.
“Blueberry Eyes” is fun and sweet. It is a light hearted love song describing all the beautiful things about love and the singers’ partners. This bright song would be the perfect song to perk you up on a difficult day and would be an excellent song for people into pop and K-Pop.
