Pekka Luukkonen Hits the Ice for His First Day of Rochester Americans Training Camp

Goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen had been in Finland playing for the TPS Turku. But the 21-year-old completed his mandatory quarantine and hit the ice at the Blue Cross Arena for his first day of Rochester Americans training camp.

During the 2019-2020 season, Luukkonen split time between the Amerks and the Cinncinati Cyclones of the ECHL. In ten games for Rochester, Luukkonen allowed 32 goals and 221 saves, earning a 3-4-3 record. In Cinncinati, Luukkonen had more success, starting in 23 games and allowed 50 goals on 516 saves to post a 12-7-3 record.

Luukkonen joins an Amerks roster that already has two goalies in Michael Houser and Dustin Tokarski.
