BROCKPORT, N.Y.—National Basketball Association (NBA) Vice President Eric Finkelstein will be presenting at 4:15 p.m. on Scholars Day at SUNY Brockport on April 9. The 1998 SUNY Brockport graduate is a panelist for the “Get in the game: Brockport alumni take us behind the scenes of the world of sports” presentation.

Finkelstein has been the Vice President/head of event operations at the NBA since 2023. Before that, he worked as the senior director of event operations for the National Football League (NFL), where he worked for nearly 24 years, organizing some of the biggest NFL events including the Super Bowl and NFL Draft each year.
During his time at SUNY Brockport, Finkelstein was a member of WBSU and interned for the Rochester Red Wings. He was inducted into the WBSU Hall of Fame in 2020.
“I’m looking forward to being back in Brockport,” Finkelstein said. “I’m looking forward to being a resource for the students that are currently there.”
Finkelstein will talk about his journey in the sports industry, and what the transition was like after graduating from SUNY Brockport.
“No story is the same,” Finkelstein said. “Everything I’ll speak about from my career will certainly not match any of the others that are going to be part of the different panels. I think it’s great, the amount of people in the sports industry that are able to come back and give some perspective.”
The other panelists with Finkelstein are Jordan Hogan and Cassandra Negley. Hogan graduated from SUNY Brockport in 2013. He recently began working as the wide receivers coach for UMASS and was an offensive assistant for the San Francisco 49ers during the team’s 2024 Super Bowl run. Negley also graduated from SUNY Brockport in 2013 and works for Yahoo Sports, covering women’s basketball.
