The Brockport Golden Eagles women’s lacrosse team fell 17-2 to the St. John Fisher Cardinals on Wednesday, suffering their second Empire 8 loss of the year. With wins by Geneseo and Utica, Brockport slid to fourth in conference standings after the loss.
"We have to work hard on the things that we struggled with," Attacker Amanda Evans said. "We have to turn the page and move on to the next game."
St. John Fisher scored seven goals in the first. The Cardinals outshot Brockport 10 to one as the Golden Eagles committed seven turnovers. Brockport coach Bryana Glasser substituted goalkeeper Marion Wheeler in for Arianna Reed at the beginning of the second quarter.

"We learned today that we have to stick to the systems and we have to lean on each other even when we're digging ourselves out of a hole," Midfielder Journey Naab said.
The Golden Eagles’ 27 total turnovers were a season high. They turned the ball over seven or more times in each of the first three quarters, forcing just eight total as a team. Brockport managed only three shots on goal.
"We were playing scared...It wasn't anything we haven't seen before, we just weren't prepared," Evans said.
Attacker Hailey Lewkovich scored Brockport’s lone first-half goal, cutting the Cardinals’ lead to 9-1. While the Golden Eagles held St. John Fisher to two goals in the second quarter, the Cardinals added six more in the third. Evans scored Brockport’s second goal.
"They had really good high ball pressure and if we stuck to the systems and continued to move the ball at a good speed, they would have backed off a little bit," Naab said.
Brockport committed 27 turnovers total, 19 forced by the Cardinals. Brockport’s loss was its first of 10 or more goals since its contest against St. John Fisher in 2025.
Brockport plays next on Friday again on the road against Russell Sage. First draw is set for 3 p.m.
