Concert Recap: "Where Do We Go? The Livestream"

Updated: Jan 6

Over the weekend, Billie Eilish went live with her much anticipated concert, Where Do We Go? The Livestream. The difference between this and other concerts? It was completely virtual.

The livestream was kicked off by a pre-show featuring Lizzo, Alicia Keys, Jameela Jamill, and Steve Carell, "Billie Eilish's surrogate dad". All four of them used the platform to encourage the audience to get out and vote, with only ten days remaining till Election Day at the time of the stream.

Fans were also able to see a preview of Eilish's new documentary, which will be released in February 2021 through Apple TV+.

After the pre-show, Billie kicked things off rocking a Gucci t-shirt and shorts set with "bury a friend". She then performed a stripped-down version of "i love you" with co-writer and brother Finneas, followed by "ilomilo".

In addition to tracks off her debut album, including "xanny", "my strange addiction", and "when the party's over", Eilish also performed some new songs from this year, including "my future" and James Bond theme "no time to die".

The show was immersive for fans, with lighting and animation effects and XR technology made possible by the Montreal's Moment Factory, XR Studios and Lili Studios, all powered by the platform Maestro. Thanks to these effects, fans got to see Billie sing among the stars, get eaten by an animated giant shark, and walk through an animated forest, like the one featured in the official music video for "my future".

Some fans were displayed virtually in the background during "everything i wanted", holding up their Billie merchandise and signs. Some even sported "I Voted" stickers, something Billie has spoken passionately about over this year.

Billie made a statement with her performance of "all the good girls go to hell", a song that is about climate change and the damage done to the planet. Images of landfills, pollution, wildfires, and social issue protests were displayed behind her during the song. After the song was over, she shouted out for her fans to vote because "we're the ones with the future".

Eilish closed out the show with "bad guy" one of the tracks that she is most well known for. She told her fans before starting how much she loves and misses them, hoping that they can all be together again soon, but to wash their hands and be safe and healthy until then.
