Woman killed in Greece Crash

UPDATE AS OF JULY 11th:

Greece Police have identified the victim of the Long Pond Road Crash as 66 year old Deborah Drake of Hilton. The investigation into what caused the crash is continuing. Police are unsure if a medical emergency or the impact of the car hitting the telephone pole contributed to Drake's death.

ORIGINAL POST:

On Tuesday July 10th around 11:15 AM, Greece Police were called to a one car crash on Long Pond Road in the Town of Greece. Upon arrival, officers discovered a car off the road into a telephone pole with a woman trapped inside. 

The woman was extricated from the car and taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name is not being released until family has been notified.

"Part of our investigation is to determine what caused the accident." Said Greece Police Sgt. Jared Rene. "We don't know if that was a medical event that occurred within the vehicle that caused the collision, or if the collision was a contributing factor to the death." Rene added.

In addition to Greece Police, State Police and the Ridge Road Fire Department as well as Greece Volunteer Ambulance responded to the crash.

Long Pond Road his since reopened to traffic. 89.1 the point will release more information as it becomes available.
