Switchfoot

★★★★☆

Excitement was palpable in the air at the last show of the Switchfoot and Relient K tour. The show, which was at Roberts Wesleyan College, was much anticipated by the crowd. The concert was put on by Kingdom Bound ministries, a Christian organization. However, the one fan that I talked to was not aware that the two bands performing that night were religiously affiliated. There were people of all ages, from toddlers to the elderly.

Relient K performed first, they kicked off their set with one of their best known songs “Who I am hates who I’ve been.” There were two things that I found impressive about the Relient K set. First, the vocalist played the piano during a number of their songs. Second, there was an enormous statue of a buffalo, almost life-sized, that was passed through the crowd.

Between sets the bands told us how they were touring with CURE International, a foundation based out of Pennsylvania that helps impoverished families to afford much needed surgeries for their children. Such as a surgery to fix a cleft palette.

Switchfoot’s set was enlightening and electric. They played my favorite song “Meant to live” second. I have loved this song for several years.

Overall this concert was uplifting to the spirit and an all-around good time.
