General Discussion
The brockport Golden Eagles scored 4 goals in the first quarter and never looked back as they took on Wells Express College with the final score 8-0.
#21 Tiffany Andres led the offensive charge with 2 Goals on 4 shot attempts. When asked about the teams dominating performance Tiffany had this to say: “I think our energy was high. And I think we really just, like played to the best of our ability in the game and I feel like we like kept our energy up, which was good.“
Senior Day today for this Golden Eagles squad is a happy one. There were 3 seniors recognized at the beginning of the game: Forward #18 Bailey Lazore, Defense #19 Jillian Owens, and Graduate Assistant coach Taylor Weber. The seniors may not have lit up the stat sheet today, but teammate #6 Paige Thowe when asked on what the seniors mean to her stated “The seniors, they are just so selfless and they are a really big part in the building and program that we all know today. So they just they embody that. And I think we all try to carry that with us every day".
Overall, this was a very efficient day up and down the depth chart as 4 substitutes for Brockport notched 30 minutes of field time, and were credited for 3 of the 8 goals scored. Forward/midfielder #6 Paige Thowe led the team in assists with 2. Midfielder #3 Kelsey Zehr had a goal and notched an assist with 5 shots on goal and 40 minutes of playing time.
Defensively, this is the 3rd time the brockport golden eagles have shut out their opponent. Starting goaltender #35 Katelynn Banning played all 60 minutes of the contest without facing a single shot.
After the Game, catching up with Coach Archambeau. She was asked about how she plans on improving for their next opponent, Ithaca Bombers. She stated that “Fouls need to be cleaned up moving forward”. There were 27 fouls called on the Golden Eagles to Wells Express 23. This is great to see from a coach, always finding areas to improve the team on, even with all the success the team is having.
The Golden Eagles move onto Ithaca (3-2) on Wednesday, September 20th starting at 7pm.Oh
